HOW OUR BUILDING and SUSTAINABILITY CAMPS WORK:

We consider our camps to be educational centers for compassionate village – style economic, environmental and cultural recovery for any community. Participants become eligible to work and live within the natural villages – village building circles. A community hoop of village building and learning for families. COST: $250 per seven day week, per learner, paid to NV before arrival. This can be given at a donate button on this site or paid by check or money order put into the mail to. Paypal is also available. For more information see our Donation page.
ALL donations and payments go to administering to and providing homes and gardens to those who need them most. WE are deeply grateful you took this healing action on our (your) behalf.
~ All learners bring all weather camping gear, and food donations to cover this week.
~ All learners must be of age 18 or accompanied by another learner-parent or guardian.
We are currently working towards credit and unit provision for students. We work in cooperation with UCSC in Santa Cruz. For utilization of the building projects at our Wind Tree site call Elena at: 408-842-2902. View examples of a natural, earth based home with a greenhouse and gardens. Information received depends on project stage ie; foundation building, wall building, plastering, window installation, are all activities determined by building stages. One week is adequate time to learn one building process such as “foundations” or, “plastering walls”, basic food gardern design, etc…
When working with trained and certified Natural Villages Building Guides:
A learner will receive a “hours of experience” certificate. This certificate will also outline this person’s obvious strengths.
For learners who have completed a full month, they will receive a letter of recommendation that outlines their strengths, focus of experience and depth of knowledge. All full – time participants receive this.
Even family members who are hosting a camp can receive certifications. . A learner will receive a letter of recommendation after each completed month.
An experienced learner can apply to be a paid building guide after completing three total house and village constructions, with clearly outlined strengths and competencies which are recorded in the letter of recommendation.
The camp building guide will be giving certificates and letters of recommendations that will be sent to you from NV, after the completion of your stay.

Currently we have camps ongoing in Wounded Knee, and in the Santa Cruz mountains where we are supporting the fire survivors who lost everything and cannot afford the profoundly expensive building permits issued by Santa Cruz County. For Pine Ridge residents, the village is chosen by a first come, first serve basis according to the applications turned in for core support. Families that meet our criteria; ie; they have a building site with available clean water, and a deed for the land; or a letter of permission to build from the owner of the land. This person is in charge of making sure campers are comfortable, meals are timely, and the plans for garden, greenhouse, home are attended to, while the family contributes in the ways that feel most comfortable to everyone onsite.
